About us

mumchic.

mum – Well, the darling of darlings, the one one and only, Mum.
chic – ( /ˈʃiːk/), meaning “stylish” or “smart”, is an element of fashion – source Wikipedia*

This is a story about a mum who believes everything in life should be delicious , fabulous and chic. With two growing and very curious sons who mean the world, some very special family and friends to share the madness , a full time job and an insanely busy life , she’s plenty ordinary in her extra-ordinaryness. For several years now, she has been thwarting the next world war ( which might actually trigger while these words of wisdom are being penned ) every other day. She is almost a magician, she pulls delicious food out of thin air and in no time… mostly ! More often than not she has to answer  questions that wikipedia or Siri cannot.

She likes to have the biggest tub of popcorn while a drama unfolds on silver screen, especially when the world wars are at a recess. She laughs and cries. She likes to banter about life, universe and everything else. She likes to humm songs. She is both adorable and goofy. She keeps building the biggest mental database of all things chic, often wandering in and out of fashion boutiques and home decor shops. Her travel bucket list increases every day. Her pinterest even more.

She likes to express, record the highs and lows, and observe the imperfect yet beautiful world around her. She likes to share. This journey within.

Come be a part of this meandering journey about deliciousness, inspiration, sweet nothings and love.

Sabeen, oh my God, I just found this blog of yours! I think someone on Facebook had liked it and I saw your picture and I was curious and came to this site, and lo and behold!! It’s your blog! You know, I always loved your cooking the few times I ate over at your house! And it’s so nice to see you posting recipes on here too :) I’m sure I will be trying a bunch of these at home ;) so thanks hon!

Hey hon…sorry I rarely check Facebook anymore so I never saw your invite to this site, but I am now a follower of your blog.
By the way, I have a request :) I remember once you made these absolutely wonderful and amazing Chicken sandwiches when I was over at your house….you can imagine how good they were because I still remember them and wish I could have them again….they were made of like shredded chicken or so (I think…)…so can you do me a huge favor and post the recipe for that?? :) I hope you know which sandwich I’m talking about….hope you are having a great day!

  6. Hey Sof , no worries at all :)

I know exactly the chicken sandwiches you are talking about , they are still made at our house in Karachi all the time , Stay tuned for the recipe , its a favourite of mine ( gives me an excuse to make them here ! )

  7. Humchic,

I cross check some blogs on Father’s role and affection on his children but not get such a depth and some where it reflects the lacking. Or we may say that the way a father expresses his love and care to his children just by his dedication on their needs and their fulfilment.
That I call as to serve till maximum of the limit even he(father) knows that he cant afford at this.

I respect all such holy creature and by grace you are in these. Keep blogging, for such a noble cause.

      • well it IS after all a fantastic country, and people really need to see that and not the crap they show on the telly! We have to come together to stand up for ourselves and it is really about respecting our history, culture and HAPPILY accepting who we are instead of trying to distance ourselves from it. For me, I dont look like anything but a southeast asian. But that is me, ill never actually BE Canadian for example, even if i get the citizenship, if it makes any sense? all I can really be is a Pakistani. I look like one, speak fluent Urdu and love the food and dance :D

      • Thank you, Sabeen, for your wonderful words. You are one generous soul. My blogging would be more regular, but I won’t be posting much though, probably just 1-2 a week, Monday and Thursday. More time to read others’ blogs, I think. This Thursday will be my first post this year, so I hope it is going to be alright. Thank you for your continuous support and many blessings and much love to you, Sabeen.. :-)

#PS: funny that your name and mine share 3 the same consonants and with two letters that start and end. :-)
